Romans 6:1-2 (ESV)
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it?
“‘Here,’ said some boys to a companion, ‘we are going to rob an orchard; come along with us, Jack.’ ‘No,’ said he, ‘my father would not approve of such a thing.’ ‘But your father is very fond of you, and never beats you as our fathers do.’ ‘Yes,’ said the boy, ‘my father loves me very much, and I love him very much, and that is the reason why I am not going to rob the orchard, and so to grieve him.’” [Charles Haddon Spurgeon, The Metropolitan Tabernacle Pulpit XLV, (London: Passmore and Alabaster, 1899), p. 257]
