What kind of advertisement are you?
Dear Friends,
Some year back there was a special titled “Why Are These People Smiling?” on TV showing cigarette ads with people smiling to beat the band. Why? It made cigarettes look desirable as thing that gave pleasure. Today’s devotional asks you and me what kind of advertisement we are. It is not a call to pretend peace and joy but a call to enter into them because of Christ. Think about it. God bless you.
Because of Calvary,
John Janney
John 14:27 (ESV)
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
“How little have we accepted and made use of the legacy of peace and joy which Christ left to us! Instead of faces telling the world what a full salvation we have, how often a long face has suggested that men had better take their fill of happiness first before they leave it behind by becoming Christians!” [J. Hudson Taylor in Gray & Adams Bible Commentary III edited by James C. Gray and George M. Adams, (Grand Rapids: Zondervan Publishing House, n.d.), p. 122]
