What are you planting?
Dear Friends,
Too often many of us opt for instant gratification without counting the cost. As someone once said, “Many people sow their wild oats and than pray for a crop failure.” While God is merciful and while Christ saves the worst of sinners, as today’s devotional teaches, actions do have consequences. God bless you.
Because of Calvary,
John Janney
Galatians 6:7-8 (ESV)
7 Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap. 8 For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.
AS A MAN SOWETH
“We must not hope to be mowers,
And to gather the ripe golden ears,
Unless we have first been sowers
And watered the furrows with tears.
It is not just as we take it,
This mystical world of ours,
Life’s field will yield as we make it
A harvest of thorns or of flowers.”
[Johann W. von Goethe, 1749-1832]
