What are you knocking yourself out for?
Dear Friends,
Today’s devotional shows how sadly foolish much of what people look on as life is. If it shows you that you are knocking yourself out for nothing worthwhile, there is still time to change. God bless you.

Isaiah 55:2 ESV
Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
Isaiah 55:2
“The former Mrs. Onassis, when married to one of the world’s richest men, said with feeling, ‘Riches have not brought me happiness; nor, as the world knows, have they made my husband happy.’ Contrast with those poignant words this testimony to the satisfaction Christ provides given the Lord Justice Cairns at the turn of the century to a workman who was an atheist: ‘If you came to my house you’d probably think it luxurious. You’d say that with all this I should be a happy man. I am — but my furniture and food have nothing to do with it. Every day I rise with the consciousness that God loves me and cares for me. He has forgiven all my sins for Christ’s sake. And I look forward to the future with no dread.’ He continued, ‘If I could be convinced that this is a delusion, my home would give me little repose, and my food would often lie untasted. It is a joy to me to tell you that the costly things in my home, which you cannot share with me, are not the things of which my happiness is made. Else I should wonder why they are given to so few. If tomorrow I left my house for a hovel, I would take my joy with me. It is Christ alone who satisfies.'”
