The complaint is often heard, “They don’t make them like they used to!”
You buy something and it soon needs to be replaced. You might, in
frustration, say, “Will nothing last?” Today’s attached devotional
reveals a rock that has lasted many centuries despite wicked abuse.
Trust it. God bless you.
Because of Calvary,
I Peter 1:24-25 (ESV)
“All flesh is like grass
and all its glory like the flower of grass.
The grass withers,
and the flower falls,
25 but the word of the Lord remains forever.”
And this word is the good news that was preached to you.
“Ingersoll held up a copy of the Bible and said, ‘In fifteen years I’ll have this Book in the morgue.’ Fifteen years rolled by. Ingersoll was in the morgue, and the Bible lives on. Voltaire said that in one hundred years the Bible would be an outmoded and forgotten Book, to be found only in museums. When the one hundred years were up, Voltaire’s house was owned and used by the Geneva Bible Society.” [Sword of the Lord, (September 16, 1977), p. 6]
