The peace of forgiveness!
Dear Friends,
Do you have the peace of forgiveness. Without it life is bleak and
hopeless. Today’s attached devotional will encourage you. God bless you!

Micah 7:18 (ESV)
Who is a God like you, pardoning iniquity
and passing over transgression
for the remnant of his inheritance?
He does not retain his anger forever,
because he delights in steadfast love.
“Alexander Whyte, minister…in the Free Church of Scotland almost a century ago,….told of working late into the evening on various matters of church business with an old minister of the church. Their business was complex and tiring, yet when the matters were resolved, the older minister lingered even later in idle conversation. He seemed to want to say something but was never quite able to get to the point. Finally, in what sounded almost like a jest, the man said to Dr. Whyte, ‘Now, sir, have you any word of comfort for an old sinner like me?’
“Somehow, beneath the pasted-on smile, Dr. Whyte saw the question was one of…deep agony. He wrote later, ‘It took my breath away. He was an old saint. But he did not know the peace of forgiveness.’ Not knowing what best to do, Dr. Whyte simply rose from his chair, took the hand of the older minister and said, ‘He delights in showing mercy’…
“Not much more was said by either man. The two parted for the evening. The next morning a letter came to Dr. Whyte from the older minister. It read: ‘Dear Friend, I will never doubt Him again. Guilt had hold of me. I was near the gates of Hell, but that word of God comforted me, and I will never doubt him again. I will never despair again. If the devil casts my sin in my teeth, I will say, “Yes, it is all true, and you cannot tell the half of it, but I have to deal with the One who delights in showing mercy.”‘” [Bryan Chapell, In the Grip of Grace, (Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, 1992), p. 127-128]
