Real courage!
Dear Friends,
Every once in a while you read of someone who took a chance and foiled a robber and they are properly lauded for their courage. There is another enemy, however, that it takes more courage to overcome and that is your own desires. It takes more courage because the battle is longer and more difficult and is directed against the one who causes you more problems than any thief – self! Today’s devotional speaks to the true heroes in God’s book. Are you one of them? God bless you.
Because of Calvary,

I Corinthians 9:27
“This is how the good Sir Richard Grenville put it to Amyas Leigh: ‘To be bold against the enemy is common to the brutes; but the prerogative of a man is to be bold against himself. To conquer our own fancies, Amyas, and our own lusts, and our ambition in the sacred name of duty; this it is to be truly brave and truly strong.’” [Charles Kingsley in The Speaker’s Bible XIV edited by James Hastings and Edward Hastings, (Grand Rapids: Baker Book House, n.d.), p. 191]
