It can’t mean that!
Dear Friends,
Did you ever come across a text in the Bible and say to yourself, “It
can’t mean that!” How about today’s text (be sure to look it up). You
read it and you have a backache and you say, “Give thanks for a
backache! It can’t mean that!” But it does. The word “everything” means
“everything”! And today’s attached devotional shows how we can do it.
God bless you.

I Thessalonians 5:18 (ESV)
18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
“We ought to give thanks for all fortune: if it is ‘good,’ because it is good, if ‘bad’ because it works in us patience, humility and the contempt of this world and the hope of our eternal country.” [C. S. Lewis, Letters: C. S. Lewis/Don Giovanni Calabria translated and edited by Martin Moynihan, (Ann Arbor, MI: Servant Books, 1988), p. 49, 51]
