You haven’t lived long in this world unless you have discovered that
gratitude is a rare jewel and ingratitude is a common sin. Today’s
attached devotional should lead you to ask if you are by ingratitude
sinning against the One you should love most? God bless you.
Because of Calvary,
John 1:29 (ESV)
29 The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
“Over the portals of a church in Germany there is cut in the stone a beautiful lamb. This is how the lamb happens to be there. A man at work on the steeple of the church lost his footing and plunged to the ground below. A flock of sheep chanced to be grazing in the churchyard, and the fall of the man was broken on a little lamb. The lamb was killed, but the man’s life was saved. In his gratitude he cut in to the stone over the doors of the church the lamb that saved his life. So we are forgiven and pardoned and saved from the penalty of sin and death by Christ who is the Lamb of God. ‘He, to rescue me from danger, interposed His precious blood.’” [Clarence Edward Macartney, The Greatest Texts of the Bible, (Grand Rapids: Kregel Publications, 1992), p. 119]
