Facing losses
Dear Friends,
Recently I went through an old address book which I was preparing to throw away to see if I needed to transfer anything to my current book. I was amazed at how many of the people in the old book had passed away. A wave of sadness swept over me as I remembered some of them. I am depression prone so I turned to an old hymn written by John Wesley. It helped and I think it will help you. So it is today’s devotional. God bless you.

Isaiah 46:3-4
Isaiah 46:3-4 ESV
“Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
all the remnant of the house of Israel,
who have been borne by me from before your birth,
carried from the womb;
4 even to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.
Isaiah 46:3-4
“Though waves and storms go o’er my head;
Though strength and health and friends be gone;
Though joys be withered all and dead;
Though every comfort be withdrawn ―
On this my steadfast soul relies ―
Father, Thy mercy never dies.
Fixed on this ground will I remain,
Though my heart fail, and flesh decay,
This anchor shall my soul sustain,
When earth’s foundations melt away:
Mercy’s power I then shall prove,
Loved with an everlasting love.”
[John Wesley]
