Did you know you have a precious treasure?
Dear Friends,
Have you ever watched one of those shows in which people bring in an
article to find out its value. Did you rejoice with them when they
learned they had a precious treasure worth big bucks? Did you say, “Wish
that could happen to me some day?” As today’s attached devotional shows
there is such a treasure almost surely within your possession. Will you
enjoy it? God bless you!
Because of Calvary,

II Timothy 2:15 (ESV)
15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.
“This book contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binds, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable. Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you. It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword, and the Christian’s character. Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart, and guide the feet.
“Read it slowly, frequently, prayerfully. It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure. It is given you in life, will be open at judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility rewards the greatest labor, and condemns all who trifle with its holy contents.” [Anonymous “Tribute to the Bible” quoted in. John A. Broadus, On the Preparation and Delivery of Sermons, fourth edition revised by Vernon L. Stanfield, (HarperSanFrancisco, 1979), p.184]
